DOUX de COLY 1998

Welcome to a view of the 1998 Doux de Coly Expedition that you will not see in any expedition reports published in magazines in the coming months. Divers from the Northern, Derbyshire and Somerset sections of the CDG were part of an International team that helped put Olivier Isler 4.2 kilometres into Doux de Coly, France during July/August 1998.

Olivier Isler and his team sort out the 2.30 at Kempton Park before attempting to break the world cave diving record.
The Swiss demonstrate their unusual technique of urinating in diving cylinders prior to filling.
Olivier using the new technique of bungie diving where there is no need to lay a line. The system is very useful for rapid returns to base.
Dave Ryall shows off the latest CDG wear in the form of a short skirt.
Safety margin, what safety margin? - Russell still had the air in his suit as back-up.
This is Claude - we're not sure how many eyes he has...
The slick and modern approach taken by the Swiss and French when filling cylinders.
The CDG's approach to the same...
A well modelled CDG belly.
Robin Brown proving that he does not get affected by mixed gas diving...
Russell finds out that his chest weight may be too heavy.
Somebody mentioned to Scoff that you're not a real man if you wear less than 25 cylinders plus an SAS mask...
The 'American' and 'Bradford' side mounting systems tolerate each other...
Paul Monico demonstrating that he can perform synchronised walking with Russell...
Paul then proudly demonstrates that he can also perform synchronised standing...
Windswept and interesting...
