Caving Experience

A unique training programme for an esoteric realm

Technical diving has resulted in a greater awareness and increased interest in areas such as Overhead Environment. This sphere of underwater activity demands great respect and specific training. Without these the diver is placing both himself and the environment at considerable risk. It is the Farrworld mission to impart the knowledge and techniques to facilitate a safe introduction to this esoteric realm.

Farrworld presents the diver with a unique training programme specifically tailored to conditions in the British Isles. Using techniques and lessons from a number of foremost cave diving organisations in the world, Farrworld has produced a series of no-nonsense training programmes to provide a safe approach to a potentially hazardous environment.

While many of the techniques employed in the Overhead Environment find application in wreck and ice diving, the Farrworld training programme restricts its activities to caves, mine workings and other man made tunnels.

Martyn Farr is one of the world's most renowned cavers and cave divers, having been at the cutting edge of cave exploration for over a quarter of a century. His list of achievements is considerable and at various times in his career he has held numerous depth and distance records in cave diving.

Martyn has found more virgin cave than anyone else in the British Isles and has travelled on many highly successful expeditions to places such as America, the Bahamas, Borneo, Iran, Mexico and Turkey. He has been deeply involved with cave and cave diving training and in this capacity, for example, has given tuition in both China and Japan.

Martyn is also a prolific writer and photographer: most cavers and divers will be aware of The Darkness Beckons, widely acclaimed as the definitive study of cave diving worldwide.

Martyn is a qualified TDI Cavern, Nitrox & Full Cave Instructor.

Other instructors are qualified, highly experienced members of the Cave Diving Group of Great Britain.

No other dive training organisation in the British Isles has more experience to conduct these activities than Farrworld.
