Cave Rescue is something that most cavers are aware of and many of us are members of rescue teams around the UK. We do not cost the tax payer anything as the rescue teams are staffed by volunteers and organise much in the way of fund raising. Despite the popular myth about tax payers shouldering the cost of recovering foolhardy potholers, which is often perpetuated by the media, we are merely a bunch of cavers who are looking after ourselves.
